Trusting the Process

Now that the new year is in full swing, and even though I tried to start it with ease, it feels like I have hopped, stepped, and jumped into 2022 in the last week. Still feeling much of the effect of chaos, tumult and uncertainty caused by the pandemic and the days still being short when it’s pitch dark when I wake up, it takes me a little more oomph to get myself motivated every morning to be honest.

Yet so far I’ve noticed that the seeds I have been sowing over the last few years for my business of “green real estate” are starting to sprout. I have been contacted by a few people in the last week to be involved in projects around green homes. For a while my effort seemed random or disorganized as I didn’t necessarily have a well thought out business plan or strategy. I only knew the direction I wanted to go, but the path wasn’t clear. I had to explore many different paths to go in the direction without knowing if I was making any progress.

Come to think of it, my life has always been like that. I didn’t make any long time goals and just followed my heart since I got to America 40 years ago. I just followed whatever path that presented itself, and voila, I am here today. It’s almost incredible to look back and see the long and winding paths I’ve traveled. I think my insatiable curiosity is what got me here. Still I do get discouraged and unmotivated sometimes, but something always pulls me back up.

As I was reminded by my teacher, Gil Fronsdale, when I was seeking his guidance on my perpetual questions about my “Path” — my life path — to trust the Dharma, to trust the process even when I can’t see where I’m going or how I’m getting where I want to go. Staying curious and resilient is my key. And I shall continue to follow my heart on this journey and see what happens!
