The Buzz Word

I introduced you to a term, “Biophilia” meaning “love of life” or “love of nature” last week. It is the buzz word of the week for me because I just put a “super biophilic” home on the market for sale. This is a property with a landscape that was designed by the owner, who is a renown local landscape designer, and has been featured in magazines and Mar Vista Garden Tours. In addition, it has all the elements considered, “biophilic.”

Without getting into my real estate agent mode and tell you about the property, I just wanted to mention this because this is why I’m late writing this week’s post. I have worked the last 5 consecutive days getting the property ready for photo shoot and showings. It reminded me of days in my life that I worked in production many moons ago. Although it’s been a lot of physical labor, I noticed I was feeling exhilarated. Similar feeling that I used to get working with a production team to create something meaningful. As I was mostly making documentary shows, it wasn’t glamourous but it gave me a sense that I was creating something that made a positive impact in the world.

The idea of being a real estate agent was not in my consciousness for most of my life, nor most of my friends thought that. Only about 5 years ago when my photography business had become unsustainable, did I decide to give real estate a shot. And as I said before, I don’t want to be just another realtor on the Westside chasing deals. I want it to have some meanings for myself and clients I work with.

Through trials and errors, I have found — or rather created — a path that I can be myself and be creative in my endeavors of being a realtor, a little bit differently. Like I said last week, it’s definitely a path less traveled. As I keep reminding myself, the mantra or I should say, “the buzz word” is “Trust.” The process of trying and learning to blaze my trail is the journey that keeps me nourished and motivated.
