Still Hanging In…

It is my 15th wedding anniversary today. I must admit it hasn’t been easy to keep my vow we exchanged back then. The relationship has been more challenging than not, and I’ve considered giving up more times than I can remember. Yet, for some reason, we’ve hung in either by default or by conscious choice. It is indeed a feat for us to get to celebrate this day together although low key and simple. We got on our bikes and rode to the beach and met by some jumping dolphins in the ocean. Then we sat there for meditation, which has become one of my favorite things to do with my husband.

It helps that we both have our spiritual paths. He’s been attending the meditation groups at InsightLA on Sundays and has taken some classes. Of course, I tend to think and “attempt” to tell him what he should do for his “enlightenment,” but I’ve learned over the years through the meditation practice and the 12-step programs to keep my mouth shut!

Remembering that day we exchanged that vow surrounded by friends and family who blessed us, I’m happy to say we’re still hanging in there despite the struggles we still encounter. Grateful for the numerous moments of joy and appreciating each other, we shall keep trekking this journey.
