Random Thread of Thoughts
One of my cats is sitting on my lap. This one is Zoey, the girl. Her brother, Benji is curled up on my husband, Kenny’s lap as well. These kittens we adopted last summer are growing up fast. They are about 10-months old now and both weigh almost 10 lbs! They are the second set of kitties Kenny and I have together. Kenny, who was never really a “cat person,” is enamored with these two cats because they are exceptionally sweet.
This may sound strange, but I’m realizing how everything is evolving just from the pet adoption process. When we adopted the last two kitties, Nicola & Riley, there weren’t so many rescue organizations. I was privately referred by my vet’s receptionist to a pet owner who had a new litter of kittens. Unlike then, once I started looking for cats to adopt this time, there were so many options to find pets for adoption. It was almost like a rabbit hole.
We finally found Benji and Zoey at the nearest animal shelter. When the two kittens came home with us, they came neutered/spayed, chipped, and vaxed. And they were very easy to adapt to their new home. Then I realized, too, when I started shopping for them that things are vastly different from 20 years ago when we brought the Nicola and riley home. There are so many options for food, litter, litter boxes, toys, and everything else to buy for the cats. It’s so mind-boggling that there are thousands of products just for our cats!
I’m only talking about cats, but we all know this goes for literally everything. Do you spend hours browsing through the different streaming services to decide what to watch? We do! I often end up walking away or falling asleep just from browsing.
Ahhh, there were a number of thoughts swirling around today, and I didn’t know what I was going to write about. There were so many options just like everything else. So my random thread of thoughts took me here. So it goes.
