New Life, Literally
The new kitties, Benji and Zoey, are settled into their new home after 4 weeks and fully utilizing the space for their daily exercise/play time, rest and relaxation. Two of them almost identical other than the slight difference in the small marks on their head, we still have a hard time telling them apart. I thought their personality would also show up to distinguish by now, but they’re equally sweet, affectionate, and well mannered so far. We are lucky to have found such good kittens.
What I’m enjoying the most is a sudden infusion of this vibrant energy in the house. As we’ve obviously got older ourselves and there had been an energy of “impeding twilight” for the last few years in our life between my ailing cat and mother, it is actually so refreshing to have this pair of creatures full of life, curiosity, and joyful rampage!
I realized it was desperately missing this energy in my life. It feels so good to be tuned into these beings, who were so new to life and vulnerable, to be able to bond with them to provide safety and comfort. I guess it is the maternal instinct. I find myself spending the evenings fully engaged with them rather than engaged with my computer screen.
Why did we wait so long? I almost ask myself. But the truth is it was just the perfect time, and I do believe in Divine Timing. With all the reasons I could share why it took us so long to find our new pets, I can only say today we were just waiting for Benji and Zoey to show up. It is currently the best mindfulness practice: Be present, be at awe, and be joyful with the simple moments of playing or watching these two little cats. And of course, I’m so grateful for this new love and joy in my life.
