Growing Greener

This is going to be short because I am CRAMMING for the exam I’m taking for LEED Green Associate accreditation tomorrow. It is the first step to take before I can become a LEED AP. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, that’s O.K. LEED stands for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” governed by U.S. Green Building Council. You may have noticed, I’m pretty much obsessed about learning about everything green building. Other than being an architectural and interior photographer with love for the shapes, forms, colors, and patterns the spaces create visually, I hardly knew about “building science,” which is quite fascinating. And to add the “green element” to it, it is actually more fascinating.

So I’m learning how to be a real expert about how to create homes that are safer, healthier, more comfortable, more convenient, more durable, and less expensive to maintain. There’s so much to learn but I am so into it. In the end, it really ties into the mindfulness practice. LEED is really about how we, humans, would transform the way we design and build so that we’re more connected to the nature and become more sensitive to the way we use our resources. It seems like I’ve been scattered around with all my activities, but it may just be that everything is coming together…

Stay tuned!
