First Day of Spring

On the first day of spring, my daffodils opened at last. It was as if they knew exactly to bloom after a long dark winter. The bulbs stay underground in the darkness, and they start to come out when it starts to be in a warming trend.

I don’t know about you, but I feel relieved the spring is finally here. It’s been four years since the pandemic of Covid 19 shut down the world and we moved into our mountain house full time. Though this was not a harsh winter like last one, the distinct changes of the seasons are always more visceral in the mountains than it is in the city. By the time daffodils come out, other trees are also starting to bud signaling the arrival of the warmer season.

The daffodils bulbs underground know when its time to come out when all the conditions are right for them while nobody is watching. While we, humans, experience the darkness in life, I sometimes forget that there’s a divine timing in everything. It is my desire indeed to be able to stay tuned into such natural instinct to navigate my life so I can allow things to unfold organically and gracefully — and not taking it personally when things don’t, and trust in Divine timing…
