Final Trip for Now

I’m late writing this today because we drove down to the city today back to my now “old apartment.” We finally sold the last piece of furniture that our landlord had graciously allowed us to leave in the unit after we moved out. I’m glad this piece of furniture, which was one of our favorite but just don’t have a room for, went to someone who I know would appreciate. It was bitter sweet to finally get everything out and leave the keys behind. This is final. We will not go back there again (unless, of course, we visit our old neighbor or something.)

It’s been 3 weeks since we were back in the Westside. On one hand, it still feels like my neighborhood, and on the other, it feels definitely so much more noisy and congested even with this “stay home” quarantine. As much as I miss the convenience of being able to walk to the grocery stores, restaurants, bus stops, etc., again I am so incredibly grateful that I now get to walk to the post office through the woods.

I’m sure I will find my way back to the Westside in some way once this quarantine is over. But honestly, I’m not ready as I’ve just started to find some head space in the last week or so. I’ve stepped back from the chatters via email, social media and Zooms a little, and giving myself a much needed time to pause in the next few days. This would have been the week I was scheduled to be in a retreat anyway. Though I can only carve out 4 days, I’m doing a self-directed home retreat. Perhaps you, too, can consider something like that.

So I thought I’d share with you some of the resources I would probably use for my retreat:

Live on Zoom or FaceBook

Podcasts:

And of course, you can join me for my meditation on Fridays!
