Beginning Again

2022 has arrived. I took a couple of weeks off from writing these notes and leading my practice group. I wish I could say I took off from “doing” all together for R&R for the last two weeks because I didn’t. I did at least slow down a little to enjoy the quiet in the mountains, especially after much anticipated snow falls. Reflection and recharging were to be had.

As we began the new week of the brand-new year, I’m sure many of us have set some kind of goals and/or intentions, which some may call “new year’s resolution.” Having been through the last two years of utter tumult at all levels, I think we’re really looking forward to a year of healing and resiliency. I am.

While I have a few goals both professionally and personally and it’s important to have some sort of action plans to follow, what I am more aware today is that I must stay nimble. The pandemic is far from over, and the world seems to be quite unstable. If I hang on too tight to my plans and goals, I may get frustrated because things can change in a heart beat. Yet life keeps moving forward along the currency of time.

Staying in the moment to fully engage in life without affected by our own inevitable fearful thoughts and being able to adapt to what life presents takes practice, a lot of it. So I am beginning this year with my intention to stay grateful and curious, and I shall keep “practicing” to stay in the moment one day at a time.
