Another Summer

It’s definitely feeling like summer now. Even up in the mountains, we’re starting to have some heat waves although not as unbearable as it is in the valley. It is much cooler in the mornings and evenings just like on the Westside where we would get the ocean breeze.

My favorite thing to do during these warm summer days is cooking outdoor on our grill and dining on the deck watching the sky turn purple and counting stars. If we stay out late enough we can see the Milky Way and may even catch some shooting stars.

As we did exactly that with a couple of friends who visited from the city last weekend, we reminisced the last two and a half years and how our lives had been affected in many different ways. Obviously, the most dramatic “effect” of the pandemic for us was how we ended up moving completely out of the city and living here in the mountains. As I continued to reflect, I actually get more confused. Well, may be “more uncertain” is more accurate to describe how I feel. Los Angeles has become so congested and intense that I don’t see myself moving back there. As long as I’m able to get there easily enough for business and social, I’d prefer to be somewhere more quieter.

Meanwhile, a part of me is curious about living somewhere completely new, and I have randomly looked at different cities that I could be interested. I’ve had fantasies about some places, but affordability into our golden ages is a concern as is for many of my peers.

Of course, a part of me dread the stress of having to pack up and move again. Since my astrological sun sign is Cancer, which supposedly makes me more of a home-body (which I agree), I like staying in one place and don’t like moving. But I just don’t know if this wonderful mountain community is going to be our final place.

So it goes. As the third summer as full time residents in the mountains rolls in, I’m remembering to enjoy the vast nature all around and the community as much as I can. I’m trusting that more will be revealed in Divine order.
